JawaX30 clutch seal

Steve Gonzales /

Non-starting Jawa 207 (x30).Installed new ignition thyristor. New spark plug. It started after that but would stall when throttled. Checked the clutch. Both the starter clutch shoes and the running clutch shoes were saturated with oil because the transmission seal and clutch seal were leaking oil into the clutch drum. I pulled the clutch drum installed a new transmission seal and a new clutch drum seal I then installed new sets of clutch shoes. Up and running! There is a lot of information on the thyristor issues but I did not find much on the clutch seal issue. This moped is pretty fast stock. My commute to work is pretty flat land and I can easily go 35mph.

The transmission seal is 28x38x7. I was able to find the sizes on the Myron’s moped site . It has exploded diagrams and parts lists.

Also, I only replaced 2 seals. I bought extra just in case I installed them wrong. Not hard to install though. I was sure tap them in place using a socket that fit right to the flat edge and tapped it in.
