i have another lead for you. chad burke aka quarter kick mopeds in Michigan. if you can't tell i'm having a hard time letting this go. i mean, it is part of fairly complete bike that runs and rides, however the bike was wrecked when i got it. Its had a lot of werk $$$ but needs more$$$. sourcing correct oem parts i need, is not an easy task, and i've had it for going on, then off, then on again for 13yrs. please dont get tooooo excited the tab on my door has some pretty severe cracking on both ends on that tab where it meets the door body. its been rattle canned. possibly reversible, and the fastener is not correct but werks. but i do think given the correct bonding agent, very fixable, but forever cracked. please do your best to find one. nothing would make me happier than to see a tool door on your bike.

I've always thought if I could get detailed measurements of one of these things I would try to make my own lol. I have an older one before they had the door and I thought about trying to see what I could do with it. :D I like having it but I prefer not having it on my bikes. For me the awesome curve of the tube frame gives it that go fast and classic look that I feel the plastics hide. But that's just my personal preference. :D

Re: Pacer SS

. Chudas. /

Yeah i was thinking of making one out of aluminum. I dont think it would be too hard, Ill try and post results.

Re: Pacer SS

. Chudas. /

Can you tell me the thread size of that knob?

Re: Pacer SS

Charles McCusker /

I could laser scan and reverse engineer the "unobtanium" cover so that it could be 3d printed...that is if I had one. I've done it with the puch magnum plastics, perfect fit.

What printer do you have?

Re: Pacer SS

Charles McCusker /

personally I have a cheapo for fun BS around the house. the company I work for has really high end stuff. I'd print on the HP MJF nylon printer we have. SUPER nice strong parts. take primer/paint really well.

Re: Pacer SS

. Chudas. /

Someone get this guy a cover so we can all have em!

Re: Pacer SS

Charles McCusker /

our pacer never had em, so I know nothing about them. So they are plastic covers left and right? what's this business about a toolbox?

There are 2 versions that I am aware of. I have one that just wraps around under the tank and attaches to the sides. It is one piece. The other version is the same except it had a compartment with a cover for carrying things. I will see if I can get you some photos.

Re: Pacer SS

Benjamin The Wandering Pacer /

Charles,

In this one you can see the plastic under the seat/tank that wraps around.

In this photo you can see the side cover in place.

In this one you can see the cover missing.

Pacers came with this tool kit.

Re: Pacer SS

Charles McCusker /

Awesome, thanks Benjamin. I think that can be remade, the trickiest part is keeping cost down on the larger cover.

Re: Pacer SS

. Chudas. /

The larger fairing is plentiful, I emailed Dos and they have 3, just no doors.

They do???!!! I need one. Mine doesn't have a compartment.

Re: Pacer SS

Charles McCusker /

oh ok, well I can remake the door. easy.

Re: Pacer SS

He responded to me just fine.... I got a set of decals on the way from him. Great guy and super knowledgeable about these bikes

I'm thirding this. I need pics too!

i just did a bubblegum weld job on my kickstand. I currently have a set of vicegrips acting as a stop for the kickstand so it's actually usable. The frame on mine is all sorts of fucked up here. Yeah it's old... but it's a pretty bad design, really.

Re: Pacer SS

I had a Pacer, but in a foolish moment I sold it to buy a Batavus (I should have kept both). Here's my question, my old Pacer was marked "super sport." What made that model an SS?

The Super Sport is the top tank model. The Deluxe is a external tank step through and the Sport model is a step through frame tank. You can see the differences here: Pacer Models

I'm working on this now.

Hope he can meet me cause I have one in hand and ready to scan tomorrow. (edited)

Should be doing at least 30 mph out if the box with stock gearing of 12/28, 52 or larger main jet inside a 14/12 Delorto carb and at least a 12mm intake. Service points, points cam and felt pad. I would have done all of this first before any aftermarket parts were added to ensure a sound performing motor and to reveal what add ons actually gain. (edited)

Re: Pacer SS

. Chudas. /

Its hitting 35 now easily, just got a 15.15 carb I havent installed, also looking at the MLM 15mm intake, Ive looked and cleaned the points. Need to get a puller to look at the insides.

Yes you do.

Check points cam on back of flywheel for rust, pitting or grooves and sand smooth with emery cloth if neccesary. Lube up felt pad with a few drops of oil.

And for the god-of-speed sakes, get a temp guage on that motor to prevent any major problems.

Question: What size intake and Dellorto are on that machine stock? Dos Cycles has a good selection of Italian sprockets. You will need to change those out in your quest for speed. (edited)

Re: Pacer SS

. Chudas. /

it has a 14.12 and a 14mm intake, I found a Tomos back sprocket that worked, I like a good take off so i just went with a 33 on the rear.

Re: Pacer SS

This 1980 m1 has 13/32 & 14.12 from the original owner. Will check the main jet.
