Mirror recommendations?

15 years ago, I left my Newport unsecured outside of a supermarket (like a big idiot) and came back to notice that the neighborhood kids had tried to take it for a joy ride. They apparently hadn’t been able to start it, and in their frustration, they tore the stock mirror off.

Fortunately that was the worst of the damage, but I’ve been looking for a competent replacement ever since. It’s hard to get something angled right off the handlebars. The 10” stem round mirrors I have right now are fantastic... if I want a good view of my elbows.

Any recommendations for replacement mirrors? I dig the stock look (long chrome stem, round mirror) but I’ll take function over form. I wear a full face helmet these days so I’ll take all the mirror visibility I can get!

Re: Mirror recommendations?

If it's an 8mm threaded hole in handgrip housing the OEM ones on a QT50 are chrome arm , black round mirror housing, might be what you want and you can still get them from Yamaha. Right and left.

It’s Arch! /

That sounds like my old mirror! Thank you!

Re: Mirror recommendations?

I've had similar issues, only being able to see myself in the mirrors.

Solution; Clamp the threaded end in a vice between 2 pieces of wood and bend the angled part another 15 degrees or so. It puts the mirror another couple of inches out and improves visibility greatly!

I only use cheapy mirrors off eBay, they way too vulnerable to worry about buying expensive ones.

That just might be what I need to do. Thank you for the pointer!

Re: Mirror recommendations?

Maybe try some bar end ones?

I think I’m going to try to bend the stocks on the mirrors I have to get the angles right. Handlebar mirrors are also a good call–I used one of those with good results before and it’s probably time to bring them back.

Thanks everyone!
