Wolf 2017 Scooter - simple question

michael sellecchia /

I just bought a 2017 wolf moped off craigslist. It runs great. The old owner did'nt have a battery in it so you had to kick start it to get it going. They key was also missing. It was actually his. His family was out there giving it away to me. Anyway he wired it so you don't need a key and you just kick start it. I just got a new battery and tried to start it with the ignition button and it wont' work. Do i have to do something else to hook the battery up. If someone could help I would really appreciate it thx!

They have a free service manual for your wolf rx50 and they are all about helping ya get your scooter back on the road. It is likely a simple fix and I wish ya the best of luck!!

Count yourself lucky, this is a vintage moped site, and 90% of us don't even have batteries. You will probably have better luck on a dedicated scooter forum, as this one is intended for vintage mopeds (think old school with pedals). Here's a handy graphic to help you tell the difference.

The starter button probably runs through the key switch.

Re: Wolf 2017 Scooter - simple question

Just imagine being able to easily flag this to be moved to a "Scooters" forum.

Not that the traffic here is anywhere near heavy but ad space is ad space

Plus, eventually the kids with the crappy scoots will most either learn and upgrade to a vintage scoot, noped, or maybe even jump into 'peds.

This guy posted with a Tomos moped 4 yrs. ago, and SHOULD know to post in the OFF-TOPIC at least.

Thanks !

Re: Wolf 2017 Scooter - simple question

power only gets to the starter button when 1) the key is switched to [on], 2) the killswitch is set to "run" and 3) the brake lever is held down (prevent you from starting it with throttle accidentally open and it just taking off)

Anyway sounds like you'd just need to bypass the starter button to just go straight from battery to button and back to the starter relay. you can always jumper cable the starter direct from the battery to see if it works, like bypass the relay to check the starter function.

He meant bypass the ignition I think, not the starter button. Look at the wiring diagram and try to figure out how to connector the starter button circuit without the ignition. Or buy a new ignition/key.
