General 5 star speedo

Can anyone supply a picture of the inside of a general 5 star front brake hub? I don't know what the speedo "transmission" looks like in order for my speedometer to work.

Re: General 5 star speedo

Most bikes hubs have no internal gearing. The speedo gear drive is on the axle next to the hub. (edited)

yeah 5 star hubs are totally different than most mopeds. they resemble Japanese noped hubs. having three 5 stars i have never messed with the speedo drive gear. so i'm no help.

Here's the inside of my front brake. There's nothing for the thread of the "transmission" to rub on to give a speedo any reading.

Can anyone supply a picture of one they have with working speedo?

I've never seen a speedo drive on that side. Flip the wheel over and post a pic

as stated before general wheels are not like most mopeds. the speedo drive is in the brake hub. i can only speculate there is nylon gear thats roached, that drives the worm gear of the cable end....

My bad, you're right. You can see the threads to turn the cable at the top of the hole. Looks like the actual speedo drive just isn't there to me

Re: General 5 star speedo

there is a round gear with a tab that fits into the wheel. it spins the worm like gear in the brake hub than the spedo cable from there. the spedo cable is special and only used on generals and lasers some odd sachs like the G4 and the juli bikes might have one here you only need the spedo drive and not the cable correct?

@FREd, I need the drive and the cable.
