1980 Starflite Regency

There is a fuel cut off switch on my bike with three positions. I was told when the lever is straight down the fuel line is shut off. Can anyone confirm this is the case? I went out to my garage and there is a gas spill under the engine. The lever was in the straight down position. I'm not a engine guy and this is my first bike. I'm trying to figure all this out, so please be kind.

Well... Try removing the fuel line and just play with it to see which position is off.

Normally down is Open, back or forward is Reserve, and the last position is closed.

It usually says right on the pet-cock what the positions are.

Yeah on a batavus usually vertically is on up is on reserved and down is fully on and horizontally it shuts off it really depends on the petcock itself some had types from Italy
