value of a Minarelli engine/trans assembly

Value of a Minarelli V1 engine. What do you suppose a low-mileage, (most likely) functional V1 engine/trans assembly (no carburetor) might be worth in US dollars? I am considering buying another one. The seller has no idea what it's worth and neither do I. I want a fair shake but I don't want to rob this guy either.

Thanks.

Yep. Good numbers.

Re: value of a Minarelli engine/trans assembly

Sounds good. This engine has low miles (400), the fan is perfect, the flywheel and electrics look brand-new. When I pulled off the fan, I was nearly blinded by the brilliant golden finish on the flywheel. I'd pay $250 for it, sure. Sounds about right thanks for chiming in.

Treatland sold a new in box V1 a couple months ago for $599

Standard V1 is pretty common. I would pay $150-175 for a nice one. No more

^This! A regular, pedal type, well-used one maybe up to 125 shipped.

Don. Agreeing with the likes of me in public may increase your chance of being considered mentally imbalanced

It's interesting that some folks are willing to pay $250 for an engine, that no matter how nice probably needs seals and gaskets, but some guffaw at buying an entire bike for anything more than $400.

If you're ok with $250, go for it. But I am sure you could find one for $100-150 less and have it require the same work.
