Puchs,puchs everywhere!
Motrons, but I'm obsessed with them and I see 9 when I'm in my basement.
Don't see many at all, but when I was young it was Punch or Motobecane, the occasional Pug, but mainly those two. Whish I had seen a Honda back then! ; )
Tomas Tomos
Yeah,Puch then Tomos, then the odd Itallian stallion or MBK.
Here in MD honda hobbit's are in surplus and a good amount of tomos sprints too
Any bike that came Factory with a Sachs 503
Tomos's and vespa ciao's probably a few dozen a day.
I've seen, so far about 8 vespa grande's on craigslist. My personal favorite moped model.
I seem to see a lot a garelli on Craigslist around here, followed by honda express.
When I was a kid in the 70s I remember seeing a lot of puch and (gasp) amf roadmasters.
someones always pushin' a puch...
like the cat that crept in, crapped and crept out.
In the past 9 years or so , I've seen two scooters , an old Vespa and one of the China offerings , and one noped FA50 , not counting my own FA50 .
Considering that we have pretty much traveled border to border and almost coast to coast , 40 some states , 1 noped doesn't speak well of the mo/no ped scene in this country . I should mention that we travel the 'back roads' as much as possible , so we see a lot of the country side and smaller towns .
I get a lot of curiosity from folks when I out and about on the FA50 .
Not much when it's on the trailer . Then my '57 Simplex always takes the show .
Very dependent on location it seems, who were the big dealers near your area
Personally most owned bike would be hobbits followed by tomos sprints then maxis. I've also had a shitload of different sachs
Puchs are not as common as everyone says.
I would say tomos. (edited)
honda express... and (i know its not a moped but...) yamaha RAZ.
one time i recived a free express and razz at the same time! literally got like 4 of each on the cheap within 2 years. made me some extra cash
It's a noped but Honda Express for me as well. They're all over in Iowa. Somehow people still want $700 for them.....
Best recollection personal hoard was -

Yes Tomos,
Being in Western reserve area of Ohio all my life, as soon late 80s motorcycle shops/dealers, moped dealers, bike shops sold out all their stock of Murray’s (that were made in ohio), puchs that were no longer being imported/sold, Sears and JCPenney stoped selling mopeds
Tomos became the leader and were available at two moped shops in the Akron area in the 90s one stayed in Business till like 2013 but they would fib about the model because only old models of tomos were on the approved moped list no a35 or a55 engine bikes and the shops had stickers printed up that they would stick on the bike stating it was a old model ha ha.
I had and or worked on over 100 puchs bikes but those included JCPenney pintos, Murray’s sears free spirit bikes and still have More puchs then other brands of bikes because that’s the brand I like and most were on the approved Moped list whereas only A3 models of Tomos were the list like I said so to register a puch was easy.
Most puchs I got from word of mouth, newspaper ads, working on bikes people didn’t want to stick the money in it so I would buy the bike and many times my friend and I would buy a whole pick up truck of bikes and I would keep the puch for that’s the model I prefer to work on and have tools for. Got some puchs from yard sales at farms that closed by me I only got a few from Craigslist,
I’m seeing more 4t China lazer 5s and scooters lately since Ohio got rid of the approved Moped list.
Northeast has more than its share of Moby

Nah I just don't keep em. Right now I've got 3 sachs balboas, a safari, a moby AV10, a M1, garelli SSXL and a goofy 504 project which is definitely still a lot, plus 2 50shifty and 2 motorcycles. but a home garage and a shared shop space garage, 2 car bays and you're set.
All I see are pieces of crap painted flat black with a strap on top tube.
Seeb about 3 puchs today in philly, but usually see tomos for sale one craigs or facebook.
The puch maxi! End of story.
truth be told a broken one...
i had a cyclist chase me down, i had my copper moby in the trailer w/some other things i was moving to storage.
he peddled frantically to catch up to me.
he caught the rig when i stopped to unload.
he had a moby @ home & wondered if mine was for sale.
he was on a fixed gear bike, he said his cadence was 160 to catch my trailer-ed moby conglomerate.
i was impressed. he is prolly on MA, i'll ask him next time he flags me down again.
honda chappys and tomos here at the jersey shore
oh come on give me this one I won this thread......
