Don't get Testi with me pal!

Hey seeing as I don't know the first thing about mopeds, maybe someone here could fill me in a little? I am not sure how, but out of the blue another moped wound up in my garage! I said to my very patient wife, "It's a springtime miracle! The Easter Bunny must have left another moped in my garage!" It's a 1980 Testi Comfort 50 with 282 miles on the clock. The dealer sticker says it came out of Brooklyn, NY. I've only really looked at it for a couple of minutes. It's got a Minarelli engine right? It turns over but doesn't spark. I am sure I can get it to run. Hell it's just a tiny motorcycle. What would I want to know (or maybe NOT want to know) about this bike?

Great bikes! Congrats! Good line for the wife there.LOL!

Clean (file and sand if needed) points thru the magneto slot and set them at .014" .

That's 14 thousandths of an inch gap,not millimeters. Should spark then.

Thanks for the advice and kind words, Don. Fortunately I grew up in the age of electro-mechanical ignition systems so I am no stranger to breaker points. When I was a kid, every car on the road had a distributor and one or more sets of points. The first dozen motorcycles I owned had twin breaker points and two or more coils.

I am excited to have this bike. I don't think I'd ever heard of Testi until I bought this... No, no, until the Easter Bunny left this one in the garage! Yeah, that's the ticket! Damn I love that furry bastard. I heard he's packing candy too!

Minarelli V1 tail light bulb and brakes switches provide ground path for ignition as a safety feature; thus, please install a tail light bulb and check the brake light switches.

You are my hero John! A little knowledge is a powerful thing. Your keen eye picked up on the missing tail light. Nice detective work!

My son once bought a Chinese G6Y something or other. Thanks goodness it actually came with a wiring diagram, because of this same feature! Which I had forgotten all about until just now! Thanks again.

I know I actually really love the bike otherwise, it's a great looking tube frame and the motor under it that way and the fat tire 16s have a good aesthetic but seriously what the hell happened with that seat? like how did that ever happen? and some team of people somewhere said, oh yeah this looks good, lets roll with it
