What's your point
You don't paint engines!!! What the fuck is wrong with people and painting engines.
it looked good after you cleaned it up. i was thinking just paint the stator and clutch covers.

Yeah I was thinking of that too but I like the black engine aesthetic better idk just how i like it i guess

Point of painting the engine? I just like how black engines look
Flat black just doesn't look right, Simi gloss looks right. VHT has a Simi gloss top coat that also protects the color coat and will take the heat. Try it on a small area an I think you'll like it.
You're OK with painting the motor . It's done every day all across the country .
I prefer gloss finish as it lasts a lot longer and sheds oils and dirt . Flat has a tendency to hang on to whatever gets on it .
I usually use regular Rustoleum in thin coats . Lasts for years and looks great .
I feel like a satin or gloss and the use steel wool to rid of the paint off the outside edge of the fins would look nice if one wanted to paint an engine.
High temp on cases is dumb. Even on the jug its not necessary. I just painted a set of chambers for my rd250 last month and I used rusto pro enamel. Chemical resistant and fully cures in 24 hours.

I've done that on a couple motors . Seems to enhance the look . I use a file or a sanding attachment .

Yeah oil on matte black is pretty visible but at least it will be easy to see leaks if I have any.
Unwatchable; and I'm not even mentioning the music. (edited)

lol
I hate painted motors. It's a beautiful thing naturally it does need paint or to be covered up by plastic. And the paint usually just burns of anyways and it's a pain in the ass to take the engine a part if you paint it when its complete. These are aluminum cases
Painted parts like clutch cover or magneto cover is okay.
When someone paints a motor they are running out of stuff to paint. Just put the can down dude. (edited)
I stopped for the most part painting anything with a rattle can. I can make it look good but it chips off so fast... plus anywhere there is heat you can count on flaking paint (even when you use the high temp stuff). I say powder coat / PPG or go home.
Seriously the motor looks nice, but it wont last.
Looks like a PO sprayed that without any prep or consideration as to what was being painted over . Looks to me that there was a reaction between different paint types or there was a film of something not compatible ...
I doubt heat caused that , as the covers behind and closer to the heat source are still in decent paint .
Looking good little brother..... I painted the top end of mine . But that looks bad ass!!!
Yep, lol.
The rtv at the cylinder base bothers me more than the paint.

When i get engines like that i just assume they are screwed up. People that use RTV tend to not know what they are doing.
Good job dude.
