Tomos a55 timing

Okay...I have heard so much crap from too many different people about how to replace the stator coil on a tomos a55 kick start engine, and I'd like to get it right so...How do you set the timing if the stator coil/plate you get to replace your stock one has no timing mark???? I have heard that there was suppose to be a mark somewhere on the edge of the stator plate that was supposed to be lined up somewhere in between the 2 lines on the engine case...But the stator plate/coil I got has no mark anywhere on it, so how do you go about mounting it to ensure proper timing??? Any advice etc. would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Which ignition do you have? Take a picture of your setup.

Re: Tomos a55 timing

It's a 2010 tomos sprint...CDI, Flywheel, stator coil and pickup ignition. It's a 4 wire CDI...does that help, can't seem to ever get photos to post on here properly... (edited)

That's the flywheel, stator and cdi I have. But as I stated before the stator doesn't have a timing mark which I have heard is suppose to line up with/in between the 2 lines on the engine's case. So.....

Do you see the darker color copper winding? That one should be in the 6 o clock position. so that the cable is oriented properly.

I'm not entirely sure the exact position of the stator plate matters in this case though, because you have the external triggered unit. It relies on the flywheel key to locate the flywheel correctly on the crankshaft, and that the magnet on the outside of the flywheel passes the trigger at the right time.

Okay thanks for the help, I thought that was how it worked as well but I'm definitely no expert!!
