Different E50 Case

This case is different than my others. Just slightly. Why? The differences are:

1) the strange letters/numbers in the box next to E50.

2) Three screws to hold down stator.

3) Two drain plugs. One for Transmission, and one for the crankcase.

Is this unusual? Just curious, because it's different than all my other E50's.

Re: Different E50 Case

Older style e50 case. I’ve come across a few of these over the years. Cut and pasted from a previous thread here regarding the extra “drain” hole.

“My Maxi manual has instructions on how to store your moped over the winter. The manual is in Danish but this bolt is called a "ventilation screw". I´ll try and translate this in English.

Unscrew the spark plug, carburetor and intake from the engine and bring the piston to TDC. Pour 30 ml of engine oil trough the cylinder intake hole and turn the engine/pedals few times. Screw the spark plug, intake and carburetor back on.

When the moped is going to be used again, after winter, it reads.

Unscrew the spark plug. Unscrew the "ventilation screw" and turn the engine/pedals with the petcock closed. Oil should drain out this hole. Screw the spark plug and the ventilation screw back on, open the petcock and start the engine.”

Re: Different E50 Case

There were several different castings used over the years.

Re: Different E50 Case

Thanks, Chris. That satisfies my curiosity.

Yup, older E50 case, the plug on the crankcase was also there for when your engine gets filled with Gas, had it happen when i had a problem with my Floater Needle and left the Petcock open.

fuel flooding might lead to seal deterioration...

gas is shit these days...honda used to have a carb drain knob back in the day, it's a good theme to have on any rig.

Re: Different E50 Case

It seems like a potential air leak. Better make sure it's got a good fiber washer.

That’s what I always thought, the winterization thing makes more sense. The crankcase drain has also been used for pumper carbs in the past.

Re: Different E50 Case
