Homeless Motobecane

I saw this in a vacant building window in downtown Olympia, WA. Right by the homeless camps. She seems so lonely in there all by herself, in the dark and the cold, homeless and abandoned. The building is available, but I didn’t write down the number. Maybe I should go back. I wonder if she’s thinking about me like I’m thinking about her?

What kind of abandoned building has a good condition air compressor in it?

I said vacant, and available, but I didn't say abandoned.

It looks like a motorcycle is in there too, but it's pretty much cleared out and empty with an "Available" sign in the window.

I'm sure someone loves her. Somewhere. Maybe they'll come back for her. I'm moving on.

Re: Homeless Motobecane

Red moby= Hard pass.. cool to see random mopeds in the wild tho!

Re: Homeless Motobecane

Looks pretty rusty....but being me I would be talking to the landlord...you could probably have it for free...even if the frame is shot it could be parted?

I dont think it is abandoned with the way that motorcycle looks. Its on a motorcycle stand, i bet they just pushed that in there for now and will move it later. Doesnt hurt to contact the landlord and see if they would sell it however.... granted i wouldnt pay more than $50-75 for it seeing how crusty it is.

Re: Homeless Motobecane

Yeah, it looked like it used to be an auto shop. The Honda was on a car lift. The Moby was Crustier than I want, but it was cool to see. Besides, I'm picking up a Ciao this trip, and Italian and and French bikes will fight in the back of the truck.

Re: Homeless Motobecane

lil dusty but so what, most bikes look like that at some point.

i'd grab it, i lvoe those long seats with the checkerd vinyl sides.

always had a thing for the red ones... i dunno why.

Re: Homeless Motobecane

Hmm , looks like maybe somebody else didn't want to be in the picture .

It's not homeless, it is very clearly indoors.

I think there were more red ones made. I like the blue.I had a red. It was a 1979 with the checkered side seat. great ped. If I came across a blue one, I wound snatch it. I syill have an engine and pipe hanging around. Maybee a gurty too. If another moby came into my life, wouldnt be a bad thing at all.

I like brown travelers. I had one awhile back that was a good looking moby but tank was shot.

Re: Homeless Motobecane

I thought Travelers were only Silver and Yellow? There was a Bronze color 50v though, on the fence about that color, when new looked good, but abused look awful, whatever color you choose Motobecane seemed to put some really nice paint on their bikes. Red is still the best..."It is written" :)

Re: Homeless Motobecane

I called the number, but just got voicemail. I Had to leave town. I can't have em all. But I want something French to tickle. Er, tinker with.

And the timing didn't work out to pick up the Ciao. No score :'(

I helped a photographer out here in Cincinnati years ago when his tire blew on his Motobecane. it was brown and i swear it was a traveler as well. I recall his saying traveler on it but this was a long time ago.

Re: Homeless Motobecane

I remember seeing an old super cub displayed in a cafe window in downtown Olympia, and I saw a trail 110 parked on the street, didn't see any wild mopeds though, I guess I should have been looking into the windows of vacant buildings.
