Motobecane, EBR, and the unfortunate brake plate.

Does anyone know what other brake plates match the front mag rim of a 50v? EBR works a different way. Alas. Haiku for attention.

Oh jesus fuck me

I cant believe these new forks

This is my solution to your issue. Weld in a piece of square stock (or whatever works) on the forks to catch the brake plate tab. Then weld a brake cable stop tab directly on to your brake plate. My welds are not pretty, but it's just mopeds.

pretty sketchy on the safety aspect.

i wouldn't ride it at any speed.

hope u don't hurt.

the white metal is pretty bad to weld to.

Those welds didn't even penetrate.

I am all for modifying brake plates and forks, but that's just bad crime.

If it holds, it holds. That is pretty scary though. I'm not the one riding it though.

Maybe sketchy, purely functional. Either way it hasn't failed...yet!

Re: Motobecane, EBR, and the unfortunate brake plate.

what size is the hub? i'd check to see what other brands have the same size (maybe older Tomos?) and see if you can swap in a hub that has a brake stop that fits the EBRs

Re: Motobecane, EBR, and the unfortunate brake plate.

Puch or peugeot brake plate is a good option. I think a kriedler brake plate will work too, just have to cut the brake slot deeper. Only thing is the axle diameters not being the same, but you can always make a spacer or change the bearings if you have to.
