New South Carolina moped laws.

So I waisted no time getting to the DMV and getting my mopeds registered. This is what you need to make this as easy as possible.

*vin number

* make and model

*GVW can be estimated I just told them 100 pounds.

I had this information written down on a piece of paper and was able to register my Tomos and Derbi SLE-X with zero issues. At first they are going to give you a temporary tag and registration. Your actual tag will come by mail. Also the cost to register and tag a moped is 10 bucks and it’s good for two years. I hope everyone is doing well and I hope this info is useful for some.

True^

What they wanted was "rated" gross vehicle weight.

Re: New South Carolina moped laws.

lets say, hypothetically, you were to tag a moped for someone else in SC that resides in a different state. is the registration also acting as the title now? is it transferrable?

I’m unsure. But if you have the certificate of origin you can actually title the moped. But if it was registered in this state I guess that could work in others?

This is the first time I had to worry about it so I just threw out a number.
