Franco Morini M02 Thrust Bearing- Where to Get One?

Does anyone know of a supplier of thrust bearings for Franco Morini M02 engines.

It does not seem to be an off the peg standard size , so was presumably made by or especially for Franco Morini. As far as my slightly wonky micrometer will allow it is 47mm OD 36mm ID and about 4mm thick depending on whether you include the thickness of the ball bearing or not. The whole thing has 20 ball bearings. The bike in question is a British made BSA NVT Easyrider moped from the 1970s using the aforementioned Franco Morini engine. Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about the ring with all the bearings around the perimeter?

Re: Franco Morini M02 Thrust Bearing- Where to Get One?

Larry? How many of those do you have?

Re: Franco Morini M02 Thrust Bearing- Where to Get One?

I thought I had one more left, but I was mistaken. I must have sold them both to the last fella. My memory is not what it used to be. I still have one of those "fish hooks" that holds the end of the starter cable if you need it. Those can be hard to come by as well.

Yes its just a ring with 20 ball bearings in it , it fits in a cup which moves along a shaft when you pull the clutch/starter lever

Re: Franco Morini M02 Thrust Bearing- Where to Get One?

You only need to have ball bearings at 3 or 4 points on that starter clutch bearing. As long as you have a ball at 120 degree, 240 degree, and 360 degree positions or at 90 degree,180 degree, 270 degree and 360 degree, you are good.

Extra balls in the holders don't matter as long as you have these positions covered or close to it.

But they need oil, so make sure the trans never runs very low of non-detergent 20W or 30W. The MO2 takes 15 oz. of oil.

Thanks Don, i take it there is no one has a supply of these in the USA i am posting from Britain.

Re: Franco Morini M02 Thrust Bearing- Where to Get One?

I don't know of anyone. Buy it from Italy, probably. The one with 3 ball bearings is fine. If you find an outlet ,you might want to buy the big washer that the bearings push against and the odd shaped bushing the whole starter clutch assembly rides on.
