1000 miles this year

Thanks mostly to Don-Oh's talk of long rides... I have piled on 1000 miles this year so far.

I never regarded a ped as a useful form of transport before.

To my surprise... one of the trips I've made a thousand times... (12 miles in suburban traffic)... takes the same amount of time on the moped as the truck or m-cycle... (I always timed it in the truck or on the motorcycle as a guage of how bad traffic was)...

The ped was the same amount of time ... getting 140mpg versus (prob) 12 mpg in that stop and go traffic in the truck.

That's awesome. I wish my odometer was working when I first got my ped. Since I fixed it a few days ago I've done about 200 miles. Running errands and stuff is so much more fun. If I had more people to ride with, I'd really like to do some real long distance trips. Breaking down by yourself out in the boonies isn't very fun.

I clocked and measured my trip to work a couple of days ago. 9.5 miles (my old bike said it was 11) in 21 minutes. Probably 2 miles of stop and go traffic, the rest on 50 mph highway. It takes the same amount of time in a car. So far, I've put about 1400 miles on it since I got it in March.

I think that I like fixing up the bikes more than riding them.

I've only put 1400 mi on all my peds combined in the past year.

But this year I plan to bring one to college with me... so I'll probably rack up the miles. Troy NY is such a boring place.
