What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

Shit, I don't think I have any. Maybe a 47mm V1L Top Kit?

What fun stuff do you all have?

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

I feel like this thread is going to veer into a general rare parts thread.

Got to see an M1 Benisar pipe not too long ago, was v'tight.

Having a rare top-end seems disadvantageous. I would rather have something easily replaceable as they are such a wear item.

Other stuff, a la pipes, I am all about.

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

I discovered that my used Hobbit kit, that I initially thought was a Parma but upon closer inspection decided was an Athena, is ACTUALLY a Eurocilindro, thanks to the brand stamped on the side (visible after cleaning) and a little sleuthing work by WillD. I can't find much info on the webs about it but it's aluminum, if it was ever painted black at some point I can find no evidence of it now, the piston looks identical to the Athena (might be an athena piston even, it's a used kit,) and best of all it doesn't seem to require any spacer in order for the piston to clear the exhaust port at BDC and has a decent squish.

If anybody has links to more info about these I'd love to hear about it. Or maybe all Athenas say eurocilindro on the side and this one got machined at some point in the past? Mystery.

I've got this 55cc DR fan delete kit...all aluminum and came with everything needed (one dykes ring, one typical ring, piston, head, cylinder, pin, clips, gaskets, fan delete cover, and stiffer clutch springs)

Got it new in the box, ran it on a bike for a couple of rally's...it was pretty decent. Ended up getting swapped for a Polini, but it is still ready to run again.

I have two puch polini 64 cc reed kits from like 2005 that because made up good materials/better aluminum alloy run way cooler than any newer polini kits,

I mean for full throttle runs for miles at a time with non retarding points ignition I barely cracked 335 f head temperatures prevent after five minutes of full throttle at 90° F air temperature with high humidity

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

The 70cc kit sold to me by Chris@Mopedwarehouse may have been Athena, I disremember.

But what probably makes it unusual is you have to bore the MO1 or MO2 case in order to fit it.

This is the kit on the Motobecane Sebring I ran the partial Lake Erie Loop ride with,417 miles the day after I installed it.

Air cooled Simonini 47.6mm kit for peugeot, metrakit for start 3, old lc Malossi av10 50 kit with big boi exhaust thread, vespa athena reed kit (biturbo), a box of lc polini 50 for av10 (not 4 sale), Garelli VIP 49mm mec eur, simonini 42mm LC vespa kit, gilardoni pp for Puch, rizatto 122a polini, bunch of other assorted dumb stuff.

I have a fascination with weird old kits and pipes. It's my favorite stuff to collect and doesn't take up much room. Plus, some of it is nearly irreplaceable- at least cheaply.

Waiting for Chad's list though. I'm sure he has some good ones. I know he's sitting on a very special Sachs kit.

Slap a pic of that Puch gila piston port! I've heard of it but no luck finding any pictures.

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

I had a few old school 70cc puch autisa maxi kits go through my hands a few years ago. Still would like to find the 65cc Magnum version.. (edited)

So I don't actually know exactly what kit this is. It is Gilardoni cast but Gilardoni does/did casting for a lot of brands.

Thank you, and so is arguing over the rarest kit. Dont think there will ever be an agreement on that one. Hell people already think that common shit is rare so good luck.

It's a Puch kit. I removed it from an e50. Just a weird head.

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

better idea for a thread: what’s the rarest part you’ve destroyed by being a fuckhead bad mechanic?

I have a v1 43mm DR kit that threw a wrist pin clip 30 seconds after first start. I also have a v1l athena i’m too aftraid to ever run probably.

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

circa 2007-08 handybikes had a nos in the original box Magnum Autisa 65cc kit.

Me and my buddy stared in owe of it on the shelf but at the time didn't have enough knowledge to justify dropping $$ on it, still wish I would've grabbed it.

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

The question was not what is the rarest kit ever -- it asked what kind of rare kits people have/had. Just supposed to be fun.

Gotcha.

Re: What's the Rarest Moped Kit/Top End You Own?

Blake, they look like they might be autisa? Maybe some old eurocylindro thing?

Mec Eur and Eurocilindro were two things I've heard people mention before. The one with the long straight top transfers is very Eurocilindro looking if you look at a bunch of the old kits they made for Vespa and even later Peugeot cylinders. I have no real input though. No markings that I can see. Maybe someone will recognize it for sure. They came in with a bunch of other Mec Eur av10 cylinders but also some other oddball ones a long time ago.
