Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

Lar 4 ghoul master Yea /

I have a 1983 honda motocomp that I want to ride from Florida to Portland Oregon in the coming week. I know I'm retarded. Are there any routes I can take and what else would I need. I am planning on getting a tent, carrying food, water and a Jerry can. I need internet connection because I want to livestream it.

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

Thats quite a journey! Is it stock or kitted?

Good luck to ya.

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

I said this yesterday but this seems a much more appropriate thread for the response.

"Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!"

You can drive your car with your feet if you want to! Don't make it a good idea..

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

Anything is possible. What's your top speed?

You don't have enough planning time.

If you don't have an idea of what route you should take or what you need, then you won't make it.

Where do plan on putting all this stuff?

> I need internet connection because I want to livestream it.

Surely you cannot livestream the whole thing, or even most of it.

Every summer people start threads asking about long distance riding, typically solo and unprepared. Best case scenario is yo realize this is all folly and not feasible in your position. Worst case is you make it part way and end up leeching off the community, a la Homeboy Rus.

Daytona, I love you

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

25km? Fuck that would take weeks!!! The coolest thing about the idea of this trip would be the ability to bail on riding and make the journey still. Fold up the compo and hop on a grey hound. Or maybe you can find a train to hop...

Let me guess your real name is Russ.

At the very least you're going to need a small trailer to carry all the crap.

And I suggest a foldable suitcase or large luggage bag so you can hide it so you can take it on the Greyhound.

But more than likely you will only make it one fourth or third of the way if you make it that far.

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

So it goes like 15mph? Portland is like 3000 miles? If my math is correct 3000 miles at 15mph will take 200hrs. Divide that by 24hrs in a day and that will take you almost 8 1/2 days non stop. your looking at a 20-30 day trip.

Maybe even longer if you have to do too many walks of Shame are things break down and you need to wait for parts.

I suggest pre boxing spare parts so that a friend can ship them out to the nearest post office when you breaks down

A long, arduous journey on an extremely rare, antiquated novelty scooter, with no plan or supplies.

Nothing could go wrong

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

If you ride top speed for 10 hours a day straight, you'd be there in 21 days.

Are you guys also calculating all the hills / mountains he's gonna have to push his rig up ? Not to mention layup time for storms and such .

Spending time calculating is wasted energy. There will never be an actual attempt at this, just him talking about his plans.

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

My buddy did cross country on stock maxi 2 speed, everyone gave him shit, but he made it no problem and with less then $100 spent. Pretty sure he had 18mph max.

Too bad the photos are missing... they were great.

You can totally do it.

I suggest you get a special medical insurance just in case something happens it's usually only like 75 or a hundred bucks for 2 weeks but it covers everything cuz that shit can get expensive a lot of mountain climbers buy this insurance when they go overseas it guarantees medical services at a medical flight home if necessary.

It's better to be safe then to bleed out in a first aid center out in the middle of nowhere.

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

fuck yeah, go for it. better get started tho if you wanna make it "in the coming week"

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

You'll need a massive red tailight display or you will die.

Re: Is it possible to ride a motocompo from Florida to portland

Contact Honda NA and get them to sponsor you. Try to create some viral campaign out of it and maybe they will give you a few bucks and possibly a follow vehicle.

Without a formal proposal, considerable efforts as to planning and supplying the trip without Honda, they aren't going to supply anything.

The very least you'll need is a VERY strong media presence or outreach that will equate to advertising for Honda. Otherwise, they're just giving you a free, hi-mileage lease.
