Right on! See ya there.

Re: moped "bike life" thread

I know if you have pegs you can stand on the pegs and pull up the handle bar.

I also know if your having a high idle, you can let the bike off the center stand and it will instant wheelie. But how do you tune your bike to do wheelies by just throttle like in the videos? is it just mostly a new performance cylinder, carb, and exhaust?

Ok, well as you said in/over there. Yeah ya got somme craters mère than me. BUT Athens docent gave mucha crap about the roads so it gets to be a bugger. And as for wheeling... Never done it so I'd like to try just to know I have.

Doing it wrong.

Re: moped "bike life" thread

Learned how to wheelie with no feet! Here is a short gopro clip.

Also put a 65 polini kit on my bike since my last post. The bike is a lot faster now and more capable on the back wheel. I have better control with the throttle and the feedback when i give it gas is night and day compared to the kstar. More power to bring the front tire back up if i start to lose it.

ride safe!

Re: moped "bike life" thread

Clip from this weekend. Learned to swerve & gettin real comfy with the one handed thing. Oh I also had to cut my baffle short on this mlm pipe so it wouldn't scrape. I think an estroil would be 10x better though.

Re: moped "bike life" thread

That sunset though.

Re: moped "bike life" thread

You can try but i'm probably on some black list for insurance agents

Re: moped "bike life" thread

The hobos of the 1930s called it riding the westbound.

Start of thread:

Just curious to see who else likes to goof around on their moped

No one asked the old lamers about not goofing around and being safe.

I don't think you understand what the term ( ride the westbound ) is,

I'll just leave it at that.

I wasn't responding to that comment in particular. I was just annoyed with the dilution of cool wheelie discussion with arguments against it. That's not why the thread was started.

True but watching the video he looks like a drunk dog walking the way he's Weeble wobbling that Willy.

Just be sure to check the box on the back of your driver's license for the body part donations thank you.

Ok, so now that we got the hobo jargon and safety threats out of the way

back to wheelies...

Re: moped "bike life" thread

haha thank you thomas! some people are boring

look i'm aware of what happens when you crash, trust me. I've had some really bad wrecks and not just on mopeds. Hell I went down on my concours 1000 on the turnpike at like 90mph.

I am also not a new rider, i grew up on bikes and rode mx

Re: moped "bike life" thread

Wait... You mean to tell me you know what you are doing?!

sic ki trea is a dude i know he is known as the Puerto Rican wheelie king,

he was the wheelie guy in smokie and the bandit's mechanic. he was gonna try and break evel kenevil's wheelie record at atco raceway he lost three toes trying. the gooseneck broke whilst in wheelie yep the front wheel fell off...

you need something with a beefier front end.

he could start a wheelie @ 3 mph and run the gears right upto 130 mph then downshift back through them....

did i mention the guy is crazy?

i mean the nazi's and nasa are stalking him...

Re: moped "bike life" thread

Eh, I hardly even use my front end, I don't need something beefier. But maintenance to your bike is critical when you are asking it to do stuff like wheelie. Respect your bike.

And I'm not sure who you are talkin about slewfoot, but Doug Domokos was and always will be the wheelie king in my book!

Re: moped "bike life" thread

it was attempted on a ducati yamaha harley buell hybrid a 1802cc "thing".

it was a dragbike never made to wheelie,

Re: moped "bike life" thread

Riding the wbd is code for when a hobo dies.

Re: moped "bike life" thread

Riding the westbound .

Maybe I'll have that engraved on my tombstone .

Seems fitting as I'm a hobo at heart .

hobo

a hobo is an itinerant worker, a career which sprang up during the depression. A hobo, unlike a bum or a tramp, is more than willing to work, but mostly for a short duration, as their main impetus is travel, the love of the journey above the actual destination. A bum is stationary, feeding off of those unfortunate enough to cross his path; a hobo merely travels from town to town, finding work when he can, but only for the sake of financing his next adventure. NEVER call a hobo a bum...they'll kick your sorry no-bo ass!

Yeah, I know many hobos by that definition. They are cool

Re: moped "bike life" thread

Wasn't the term Hobo initially short for Homeward Bound? As they were working to afford money for food and travel back home? Began as Civil War vets hopping trains home and working odd jobs where they stopped?

I suppose that could well be . Seems logical enough .

I wasn't there , I'm just going by what I read .

Could be the depression era rejuvenated the lifestyle with a bit of twist .

Re: moped "bike life" thread

short clip from labor day. Still rockin the polini e50 with 16 sha. Ditched the mlm peoples pipe for an estroil recently. It is more tucked in and wont scrape when i wheelie. Kinda bummed though because I feel like i lost some low end. Idk, maybe i'll go back to the peoples pipe, its makes such good linear power from 0 to 50.

ps If anyone has done a conical needle bearing swap on the headset of a moped, i'd love to hear about it. I have cracked 4 lower bearing cups now, think I need to upgrade.
