Going to disagree with this because the timing and firing marks aren't the only problem. the coating on the coil wires melts if you have an ignition cover on. seen it happen numerous times on mopeds and dirt bikes (even on the "new" batches that are allegedly fixed). The quality the stators is really bad, there's nothing keeping the wires on the coils except solder. I also wouldn't say they have a good rate of reliability given the whats available for the price point. Everyone on this site knows multiple people who've burned up hpi coils or had a box fail.

meh, Takegawa puts their name on selettra ignitions which says a lot to me about the quality.

As you might be able to tell, I'm pretty passionate in my hatred for HPIs. I probably wouldn't be if they weren't 200-something dollars, people didn't talk about them like they're sacrosanct. (edited)
