What rims will fit a Garelli Monza GT?

Double Trouble Dan /

Looking for a friend. Can not find any for sale and do not know what else will fit.

Help needed please!!!

Re: What rims will fit a Garelli Monza GT?

Almost any will fit with the proper spacers. The original Monza GT wheels and hubs are a little wider than standard. Ya looking for spokes or mags?

Looking for either one . We have tried a bunch and other rims will not fit.

The drive sprockets are on the wrong side.

Also , the swing arm is wider and spacers just make the sprocket not line up.

The rim is wider too.

We would re-lace the old ones , but the cost was excessive.

Thanks for the reply

What exactly do you need? What's wrong with the old ones? I have new hoops. Will check my wheel stash also. I'm sure I could fix y'all up if I go digging around in the shop.Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/08/17 11:25PM by stephensimmons.

Don't dig too deep into that wheel stash bud, I've got a Christmas shopping list for you.....

What I have for you isn't going anywhere!

The old ones are rusted through . I can't remember if the hubs are o.k. , but the bike sat outside a long time. I know the rear was unusable . The front might be salvageable , but at minimum it needs to be re-laced with a new hoop. That sounds like too much work with rusty old spokes. Best to just buy a pair.

Just any decent set of rims would be better than what is on there.

Thanks in advance.

Check and see if the hubs are any good if they are I may be willing to pill a set off of a bike that I wanted to relace a set of. Also get me a few pics of hubs to make sure they match mine. This is the bike I have.

Re: What rims will fit a Garelli Monza GT?

Flip the wheel around and run the sprocket on the side it needs to be on and then get crafty with the brake stop. You're making this much harder than it should be.

Re: What rims will fit a Garelli Monza GT?

I've installed mags on one easily in the past, but I'm pretty sure VIP wheels work as well. You need to change the rear sprocket.

Tried this with 3 different brands and its a no go.

Being an expert requires that you have knowledge.

If the spacers you put in misalign the sprocket, relocate the spacers to realign the sprocket.

When you try that it puts the wheel an inch off center and the tire rubs.

I'd prefer to do things the right way .

No sense hacking a bike that will be going close to 50 when we are done.

Next you'd probably want to remake the swing arm to fit a rim that does not belong.

Just waiting to see if Steve has a set.

That way we can do it right.

We have time . Not riding till spring anyway .

Do you need just the rear or the set?
