I bought a Revival last week and have put 160 miles on it. For what it is worth here is my opinion:

I bought it for the appearance and because it is a Tomos. I'll say nothing more about the appearance... it's a matter of personal preference. It does get all the looks though.

Durability... not really. Everything that looks like chrome is chromed plastic (except the shocks). The plastic is not the best. Mine has a place on the speedometer cover where the "chrome" has a run. I don't know if Tomos will warranty it but I intend to ask. The chrome side covers have "dips" in the plastic that shows in the chrome reflection. One if thee kids was backing the bike up, hit a fence and broke off the left rear turn signal. I tried to "melt" it back together with PVC cement but it didn't hold when I was jumping speed bumps in the park. I will be ordering a replacement signal this week. I'm conserned that the chromed plastic will scratch easily and will not stand up to fuel spills. Time will tell.

Speed... I weight about 185 lbs. The bike has the normal new stock Tomos take-off, which I would rate as very good. For me, it tops out at about 34 mph on level ground. I've had it up to 38 mph on downhill runs.

I paid $1,699.00 plus tax. That seems to be what all retailers are asking. My local dealer would not negotiate on the price. I've seen them offered for $1,599.00 over the internet... but if you add shipping... it would cost more.

I would like to add some performance parts but as far as I know no performance exhaust is available. The pipe zigs and zags under the bike and then has a special mounting bracket. A normal Tomos performace exhaust would not mount. I think I could add a 60/65/70cc cylinder and piston, using one designed for an A35 engine. But , because the carb is a new design I don't think a larger carb is available in the after market yet. I haven't looked into the sprocket options yet but without increasing the engine power I wouldn't want to trade take-off for top end.

That's my two cents. I would buy another even though I believe the plastic parts are going to have to be replaced periodicly to keep the look.

The bike looks too nice for it's own good. Sure it looks cool and all, but you'll be backing up traffic on something that looks like it should be able to get the hell out of the way.

I was wondering if it was chromed plastic or not... hmmm

That kinda turns me off a little.

How about the chromed parts by the rack? The part that has the yellow side reflector. Are they plastic to?

How are the brakes? Are the lights bright?

I am thinking about getting one in the fall becuase they carry a lot of weight, which is great for long trips. Not too worried about speed as long as it can climb a hill at 15mph with a semi-heavy load.

Yes, the only real chrome is the luggage rack and the shocks

The brakes are awesome, very nice stopping power. The lights are plenty bright for a country lane.

I should add that the luggage rack is very small and poorly designed due to the curved back. A gallon of milk barely straps on. The rounded rear of the rack makes it difficult to get a four point mount.

At 185 lbs I'm climbing steep hills at 23 mph.

I love your response. I've repeated it alot since I read it, 'looks like it should be able to get the hell out of the way... but doesn't'
