Did you read it? You just said you add exhaust gases (they're lean) to the mix to not burn the fuel as quickly.
HOLY CRAP. I think you finally stumbled onto the correct answer. You just inadvertently said they lean the mix so the fuel doesn't burn as quickly.
If I would have said "not as quickly" instead of "slower" we could have saved a page.
