total noob- what do you think?

Ethan LaSalle /

Hey all, first time here.

Never ridden a moped but am so fascinated with them and think they are super cool. I think i have a chance to buy a 87 Motomarina Sebring for a grand. One owner, has titles, 315 original miles on a Morini M1 engine. Apparently everything works, super clean. Any tips or words of encouragement? Is this a good deal? Excited to get into this.

Very nice ride.

Re: total noob- what do you think?

Try to get it down to $700-800.

It's a quality bike, in a rare color..for a first moped that is a great find!

Totally normal JBOT /

That is very pretty.

Re: total noob- what do you think?

The motomarina sebring is one of the few american mopeds that i'd like to own. Always try to talk the price down, but a 1000 doesnt seem unreasonable these days.

Re: total noob- what do you think?

Black is the least rare color of MM Sebrings. Here in NJ it's a $600 bike.

I see your profile says you are west coast? 1000 is within the range of the coastal pricing from what I have seen, but it doesn't hurt to ask for a lower price. A Morini M1 is an awesome engine and Sebrings are a strong bike. From the photo it looks in pretty good condition. All my bikes are Morini powered and they haven't let me down yet. :D Go for it.

Re: total noob- what do you think?

1k seems expensive, but good mopeds can command such a price these days, being titled is huge too. If you can afford it, go for it, a great machine.

Just like what everyone is saying, 1k isn't bad and be prepared to pay that, but trying to talk them down a little couldn't hurt.

Re: total noob- what do you think?

That seller is selling a couple mopeds, they've been on craigslist for months down here in San Diego. Definitely talk them down.

Re: total noob- what do you think?

I've got an 1980 M02 powered Sebring. Was my first moped and still one of my favorites. I paid 640-680 for it, had sat indoors for probably 25 years. Lot more M1 engines floating around which is always a plus. I don't know what bikes around there go for usually, but it's not a super rare color from what I know about the bikes. If it was the red one, then maybe.

nice mirror

Re: total noob- what do you think?

It's a really nice bike. It's hard to find bikes with that low mileage. I've got a 79 Sears free spirit that is sell for 800. It has under 300 miles. I also have that maxi you emailed me about.

Can I quote you on that price when I snatch that white one off Rob? Lol

Re: total noob- what do you think?

Did you get it? What happened? I need closure.
