Re: Stolen mb5 - Brooklyn NY

^ You know that, and now I know that, but I bet whomever stole it doesn't know that, they just look sharp. On the plus side they make it easy to spot.

Money talks, bullshit walks.

Pretty simple really, you give someone an incentive to help you by offering a reward. Or keep walking.

Maybe for some rando in Brooklyn, but in a ~community~ helping others of the community out is its own reward.Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/18/17 01:20PM by phoebe.

That is a mute point^^^

Allow me to make a valid point or two.

The "community" is not large enough to get the job done by itself, (I wish it was, but let's face reality).

Matter of fact, when is the last time someone in the community actually found, spotted or led an owner to their stolen bike??

The gesture and thought is nice but not particularly practical in today's world.

So, an incentive is needed for the average joe or the rest of the world to become involved.

If the incentive is large enough it may lead the thief or at least the one in possession of said vehicle to return it, like it did in my case (it depends on how bad you want it back).

I think it goes without saying that most if not all members here would refuse to accept any reward, I know I would, even though I was willing to pay a reward myself.

Distributing flyers or posters with pertinent info would be the other half of the equation. Again the "community" is no where near as large as the rest of the world, so the info needs to be distributed in other ways and not just on one website.

To the o.p....

I hope you get it back, I really do.

Been there done that.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that someone else is just going to lead you to it or find it for you. Dont think for a minute that any cop will be on the look out or even notice it. You're gonna have to become a detective/paper boy and hunt it down yourself while posting flyers everywhere and talking to peeps. I would hope that you already put up ads on Craigslist and letgo in addition to watching those sites like a hawk.

So there is my "community" helping hand from 767 miles away.

What the fuck do I know anyways?

stolen and recovered in less than a week.

It's "moot." When you begin a rant and the first sentence contains a glaring homophone error, it speaks to the value you place on your own words, and the lack of respect you have for the reader.

> Matter of fact, when is the last time someone in

Two weeks ago I recovered a Brooklyn rider's stolen bike. Grabbed it off the street, held it in a safe location, and then coordinated with him to get it back to where it belongs. Not because of the reward, but because of this community and what it represents to me and those here in NYC.

Using a tired cliche like "money talks, bullshit walks" devalues the purpose of this thread. Although, I will admit this type of catchphrase is something I should have expected coming from someone who's threatened to shoot me in the face via a moped forum.

I hope your bikes, whatever they may be, remain unmolested and running for the rest of your days. But don't attempt to redirect blame towards a friend and fellow community member for not offering an "incentive" to the public, and at the same time manage to condescendingly chastise every real supporter of the search.

Stay 767 miles away, please. And, as for the help you've offered from your position of apathetic keyboard authority:

Thanks, but no thanks.

Re: Stolen mb5 - Brooklyn NY

If you find my bike I'll tounge punch your dirt star. Incentive given.

Re: Stolen mb5 - Brooklyn NY

was it locked up ??? ill keep a eye out for you ! Not too many moped out here!

Re: Stolen mb5 - Brooklyn NY

Money talks?? No it doesn't.... idiots with money talk.

This idiot with money says: Pacer you suck.

OP: rad bike! I hope it's recovered swiftly and un-damaged.
