some photos to share of my mint '78 Puch Maxi MKII...

After surprising my brother last Memorial Day with a '78 Puch moped (identically to what we shared as teenagers)... I got the bug to find another identical low mileage example for myself.

Tom Castelli had just the example I was after... we shipped the moped from California to Ohio... then Jeff Payton of River2Strokes did his thing once again! He dissembled the entire moped, rebuilt the engine, adding nos parts as needed, I then polished, cleaned and waxed nearly every square inch of this moped, all the way down to each nut and bolt... with Jeff's attention to detail, the re-assembly began..

Well the end results are as new... a BIG thank you to Jeff once again for making it happen!

Looking forward to many sunny rides this summer!

WOW........I mean, WOW.........

Most impressive, sooooo clean......Must've cost ya an arm and a leg though, however if i had such precious memories and the potential to re-live them, i'd do it too.

Let's see it in action!

Thanks B-Man! Fortunately I don't put a price on memories! :)

Combined we put over 21,000 miles on our original moped. Here's a photo back in the day...

Re: some photos to share of my mint '78 Puch Maxi MKII...

That's refreshing to look at.

All original and clean with no rust or scratches or otherwise "modified ".

Have fun on that time machine.

Re: some photos to share of my mint '78 Puch Maxi MKII...

Absolutely sweet! The crazy bit is it came from Indiana to California then out to Ohio to Andrews. It's traveled more miles than many a moped! But it has less miles than almost all.

Re: some photos to share of my mint '78 Puch Maxi MKII...

always a pleasure, Andrew takes excellent care of his bikes and this one clearly speaks to that

Ya you have one of the best bikes!

Congrats!

I got the same bike in real good shape too though I put a rebuilt 86" needle bearing cobra engine, polini kit and spoke wheels on it for better gearing and speed!

I have the mint snowflake wheels and orginal engine to put it back to stock if I ever want too.

I have dealer installed Cateye signals that look and work great.

Love the seat, bars, rack, fender/fork support and shocks on these bike over a regular maxi.

Goes mid/upper 50s and gets there fast

Why would spoked wheels be better for gearing and speed? (edited)

Sprockets.

I would imagine better selection of sprockets.
