Hey guys, was just wondering, how often do you take apart and clean your carburetor?
Reason I'm asking is I've been using my Tomos almost every day for over a year and haven't cleaned the carburetor or changed fuel filter during that time, it still runs just fine but I was just wondering, how often do you usually do it?

Once, if that, should it need it when I get the bike. Run a filter, and use your petcock, store it right. If it us working leave it be. Some seafoam in the gas never hurts.
Depends on how clean your gas tank is, how good of a fuel filter you run, and if you replace your filter every year or two.
I've had a avg maxi go two years before the Bing got dirty and failed me on the side of the road. Seen others with nice tanks go 5-10 years using fuel stabilizer in the winter, or by running the carb empty.
Clean it when you are bored in the winter time to prevent roadside maintenance.
It's a 2013 sprint model so the tank is pretty clean, thanks for your advise!
I believe this would fall under my "as needed" catagory, because as they say, "If it ain't broke, fix it until it is", which is where you'll end up, with stripped threads, worn out screw heads, ruined gaskets, etc..., when you screw with stuff that you don't need to be. (edited)
when I buy a bike and it doesn't run. I also put a fuel filter in. so... yeah that's about the only time.
then the rest of dicking with carbs is rejetting for whatever other dumb thing I added.

I've never once cleaned my tank, but I made sure it was pristine when I built the bike and it is stored inside.

i also clean my carb every time i have sex.
Is that according to the Bill Clinton definition ?
You clean it when needed, inspect it if you are already working on it. (edited)
i run a bunch of air and gas through mine daily. keeps it pretty clean.
i've had some dirty tanks that would require me to dump the bowl every few months, but whatever. you can feel when it starts to get weird. there would be the ultra fine, brown rust dust in the bottom of the bowl.
I should clean mine. I think it's about 4 or 5 years since I have.
I clean two carbs in the morning,
I clean two carbs at night,
I clean two carbs in the afternoon
And then she runs alright
