SOLO MOPED: WTF IS IT? BATA-PUGO-MOBY??

what the hell did i buy for $50?

is it worth trying to upgrade???

the stroke is 48.1, just like a moby

the frame is a lot like a batavus peugot moby

the liquid cooled cylinder is decent, with big transfer ports

the clutch is shit, the belt is size 10x6x730 mm

the snowflake wheels are stamped- "SOLO TYP1"

so the snowflakes are snowflakes but totally odd looking.

so far, everything was basically siezed and rusted. The piston came loose and the cylinder is amazingly clean and actually wasnt rusted, just had some dried oil sticking to the piston.

i was going to strip it down and use the frame and wheels on a different project,

Odyssey is a brand name for US mopeds made in Germany by Solo. There are two transmission versions, one speed (ein gang) and two speed (zwei gang), and four speed versions:

Type 236: 8.3 CR, 1.45hp @3250, 2 transfer ports, air cooled

Type 237: 7.5 CR, 2.1 hp @5000, 2 transfer ports, air cooled

Type 254: 8.3 CR, 1.75hp @4000, 3 transfer ports, coolant in head

Type 255: 10.0 CR, 2.6 hp @5000, 3 transfer ports, coolant in head

254/255’s have a different clutch, crank, left seal, from the 236/237.

All versions have these specifications: 38 x 42 bore and stroke, aluminum cylinder with steel sleeve, piston clearance 0.0016″ to 0.0024″, piston rings 38 x 1.5 with FG gap style, ring gap 0.008 – 0.020″, 10mm Bing carburetor 1/10/112 with jet #58, Bosch magneto 0212 005 001, point gap 0.014 – 0.018″. Hoping it's a 731,

What you see, stamped on the cylinder, is 47.8cc, not 48.1

Re: SOLO MOPED: WTF IS IT? BATA-PUGO-MOBY??

They have awesome motors and have a huge untapped tuning potential. Put a real reed on there, with a decent size carb, do a bit of porting and it would be quick assuming you could find a clutch to put that power to the ground.

Re: SOLO MOPED: WTF IS IT? BATA-PUGO-MOBY??

Yes its a solo odyssey

Sorry I forgot to mention

So weird just looking at it I feel like this is bizarre world,

Re: SOLO MOPED: WTF IS IT? BATA-PUGO-MOBY??

Dude, I love the open road so much, solo clutches are tight. You can takeout 2 of the weights and then your really jamming on take offs, they are also the vario weights too so it also does that. Then most Peugeot exhausts with a ball joint will fits super easy. I haven't pulled the intake off yet to mess with the reeds, because it's hitting 48 with the stock 10mm Bing, 45 rear sprocket and a ninja g3 clone pipe.
