99Z engine running

Just finished rebuilding this.

was seized solid, piston stuck in barrel, soaked in freeing oil.

Knocked piston out with a piece of wood and a mallet.

Rings jammed in grooves, broke when removed, used old rings to clean grooves.

Reworked transfer ports etc.

Embrayage wrong direction, managed to find correct assembly.

Fitted new clutch segments ok.

Engine is on its original subframe with a transfer box underneath.

That's a neat engine. What is it going on?

I own a couple of the SP93; I might be able to help if you have any questions. Here is a link to the relay box manual:

Boite de Relais

I also have a copy (from Rebel Mob) of the Master Parts Manual that covers the 99 (edited)

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Does your mother ever come down the basement and see how messy your room is?

Re: 99Z engine running

I’m resurrecting this thread because I just learned of the existence of this engine while reading about forced induction small engines elsewhere and I’m interested.

It seems the OP made this one teaser post and bailed. Anyone else have a 99z or know much about them?

I have had one on my shelf for a couple years now. Still haven't decided what to put it on, if anything. Definitely one of the rarest things in the collection.

Re: 99Z engine running

those head fins are facing the wrong way.

Re: 99Z engine running

I believe this was a version used in a small car so it prob has a fan shroud that isn't pictured. Looks like it has a finned flywheel with a starter ring for e-start.

Re: 99Z engine running

oh my, now i really wanna know what it goes in

Re: 99Z engine running

Not positive what the one above is for but the Ligier JS4 was a fun looking minicar that used these engines. There are a few others but that one stood out to me.

Man you can almost park one of these inside a golf cart, without scale you can't fathom how tiny they are. I love them so much, I would love to get my hands on one but there are a lot of cooler mini car things stateside or one could even build their own.

Re: 99Z engine running

I remember seeing Isetas when I was a kid .

Even then I thought it was just something to get you there dry . ;)
