STOLEN solex NYC

Bart Simson /

I won't go into more details, other than being knuckle head i bunny hopped it, bend forks and left it chained for 3 months by brooklyn hospital and forgot about it. It is not there anymore. RIP (edited)

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

You cannot just leave something like that chained in a public place for 3 months.... of course it was towed. Did you check with the city impound

and the system?

John, thats a very mild reaction, seeing your reply i was ready to blast on you, but it was sort of kind.

Yes i called the city and they searched for more than 30 minutes in their data- unsuccessfully. Well I can't deny it, I miss it more than a week ago, but i had a dream about it twice last week. The chances are if not in dumpster it will come back to our local shop, as we just recovered friends stolen solex (not mine) with this; last night......

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

he is trying to get in touch with you to verify the vins (edited)

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

Hmm. Having seen the actual bike I doubt that the city would be able to categorize that thing in their system. If you honestly think that the city would diligently catalog rusty (and broken) bikes which they remove from street signs then I've got some some snake oil to sell you.

Hate to say it, but there are no identifying marks (minus the tank) it was locked up for probably a month (looks abandoned) and it was at a bus stop, in front of a very busy hospital aaaaand on a super busy street with a lot of foot traffic.

The likelihood of someone going through the effort to steal that bike at what is probably the busiest intersection in a square mile is very very low. I hope I'm wrong and that you get it back, of course, but let's be realistic...

I'm gonna put my money on "removed" vs. "stolen" (edited)

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

Which one was it...the black one...or the gold/orange one?

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

ari they were surprisingly nice on the phone and actually i got bored with a the conversation but she kept looking throughout the periods of listing. She did not care about rust and had a category for vintage bike, only structural

Fact is, it was right on entrance where the killed cops were visited by hundred, and the bike was handcuffed to the sign, so maybe one day it will come back or not. why did i forget, why did i forget- disposability of the mopeds makes you do that sometimes

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

I'm also gonna go with the city probably has it. I'm sure the phone lady was nice and helpful...but I bet the dude that cut it and threw it in a truck does not give a shit about looking that hard for a VIN . regardless I hope you get it back dude!

System? We dont need no stinking system!

I would bet 3 dollars the city has it..

Try to find the most likely impound lot or lots it would be at, and visit them in person.

In my city I lost several bikes and recovered them by going directly to the impound lots. Both bikes not in the system.

thanx Sir, and Brian i will check the brooklyn yard, but i believe the bicycle impounding agency is run out of the van, not a tow truck, and it might end up in a different speciality agency. I will continue with little effort.

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

I've seen scooters and motorbikes at the Navy Yard.

Re: STOLEN solex NYC

I'm sorry Bart!

Re: STOLEN solex NYC
