Looking for success stories: '77 Case Boring, Port Matching, Rebuild Service

Bringback2Ts Plz /

It looks like a really nice service at '77. So NEVERMIND how long it takes has anyone successfully used it?

Re: Looking for success stories: '77 Case Boring, Port Matching, Rebuild Service

anyone who would pay to have that done for them is a sucker.

Re: Looking for success stories: '77 Case Boring, Port Matching, Rebuild Service

They only do Puch's

My understanding is that they have a really good fast local machinist for the Case Boring & aluminum welding needed for the big kits.

I assume that they do a fine job with the case matching and rebuilds of the e50's as it's a pretty basic service which they have done for a long time and they now perform in house. The time lines on this are now improved because it is being done at their Kalamazoo location.

They farm out the za50 rebuilds, but I know for a fact that those motors are really well re-built.

Yes I used them to bore and weld a case a few years ago and I got my cases back in little over 3 weeks so not bad .

Re: Looking for success stories: '77 Case Boring, Port Matching, Rebuild Service

They did colin's gila, and cheaper than the local machine shops would do it, and with more experience.

but it also took like 2 months.

but really, it's just mopeds. for 5 bucks and a drill/flap wheel or a dremel you can rut it out yourself in under an hour...

I went ahead and sent 1977 my za50 cases. Here's the follow up.

12/29/14: cases delivered to '77 per USPS

01/06/15: '77 acknowledged receipt

02/16/15: '77 advised that more touch up work required

2/19/15: '77 promise to ship order on 2/20

Nobody has replied to my emails since 2/19. So a three week turnaround has become an eight week one.

DMW was supposed to put that ZA50 together for me after I rebuilt the crank and bored the cases if I'm ever to get my cases back.

My Discover credit card is going to open a claim but advised to wait 15 days from the time '77 said they had shipped my stuff.

Why aren't more people filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau: 1977 on BBB.org

So my order with 1977 is bust. Today I opened a dispute with my credit card and provided all supporting info pertaining to my order and received full refund. 1977 still has my za50 cases and I'm going to look for some legal ways to get them back even if it costs me.

What a shit experience this was. The order had consisted of their boring/welding/matching services and two za50 rebuild kits; I'd placed it on 11/30/14. I had emails from 1977 confirming the cases were ready to ship, then not ready, bad weather was blamed once. I even managed to get Dan Kastner on the phone assuring me things were great.

Next step is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan.
