MOPED ARMY

The Moped Army doesn't recognize sprees, razzes and elites as mopeds. The year of the bike isn't the issue so much as the fact they have a much more "scooter" styling - no pedals, small wheels, etc. They are under 50cc, but that's not enough to warrent them being called mopeds in my mind. I know that they are registered that way in some states, but that's beside the point.

New mopeds are just fine though.

Plus mopeds have a bit more "cool" factor. Scooters are very hard to fix up and work on. And they are mostly plastic (easy to break). It's always impressive to be able to fix your own machine. I'm learning how to fix my moped and I'm totally pround of myself. So tell that to your friends ... plus mopeds are cheaper.

I'm not anti-scooter ... they are legitimate forms of transportaton and even have some advantages over mopeds and motorcycles. But the Moped Army is organized around mopeds. Of course, no one says you can't ride w/ scooterists. But a scooter is not a moped.

Think of it this way ... imagine this was a muscle car club. Now, someone tried to join w/ a pickup truck. Yes, they both have big engines and tough football jocks tend to drive them (no offence to anyone who drives a truck!) ... but you wouldn't call an S-100 a muscle car, would you? It's the same basic principle w/ the Moped Army.

Well if you design it, create it, chrome it, modify it, heads will turn. If its stock, original and rare leave it alone but if you should happen to be riding your moped and hear something that idles like a hog and accelerates like a rice-burner its just me and my plastic panel scooter style moped, but Don Yenko would love this toy... i guess that would probably be treated as a moped, it has an auto clutch, and a 49cc engine. the only thing that really is going against it is the lack of pedal

There are many mopeds who are missing one or more of the key points needed to be a moped; pedals, step through frame, automatic shift, but what we do is just check it out on a moped by moped basis. You would not believe the @!#$ i got when i bought my bridgestone, it is a top tank, with a kickstart, no pedals, and a manual transmission.
