Motobecane Fork Upgrade?

Looking to replace my stock 1979 Motobecane 50v fork thats pretty shot. Want to get a triple tree style fork like the EBR ones. What forks from other mopeds work best/bolt right on with little to no modifications? Cheaper the better.

Thanks

Re: Motobecane Fork Upgrade?

EBR Hyrdos fit right on as long as you get the moby specific ones

Re: Motobecane Fork Upgrade?

Brian, how much fork travel does that great looking ped have ?

Re: Motobecane Fork Upgrade?

Tomos Streetmate/Revival front end will also work

Re: Motobecane Fork Upgrade?

since his bike is a 1979 it should have lelue hub spoke wheels, so he could swap the brake plate for a puch or peugeot front plate an use a sock peugeot fork.

Re: Motobecane Fork Upgrade?

I have about 2 - 2.5 inches but I have not bottomed them out yet....

Since I put the clip ons on top of the triple tree this has reduced the travel about another 1.5 -2.0 inches.

My solution on the next build is to get the moby Hydro forks again. BUT I asked treats to swap out the shock tube to ones that are 3 inches longer. this way I can still place the clip ons on top of the triple tree and get maximum travel.

here's the combo to allow proper travel with clip ons on top of the triple tree
