Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

How common are the brown MKII and what years were they made? Is it just another paint scheme or was there some significance?

Re: Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

It was the only MKII color scheme in 1980. They are pretty desirable but not super rare. Generally they are hard to find. Besides the different paint, the only other differences are a key and indicators on the dashboard. Golden 5 stars, black chrome exaust. Some had turn signals & a battery.

Re: Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

It was basically the top model available. The base model was the Red XK w/ an e50, spoke wheels, a simple speedometer, and non-hydraulic forks. The mid range was the Silver MKII with an oil injected za50, hydraulic forks, snowflake wheels, and a dashboard (also w/ optional turn signals). The Brown MKII had all of the above plus gold five star mag wheels and a keyed dash w/ indicator lights & the black exhaust as mentioned above.

(there was also the silver Magnum II, which was basically the XK)

When the mocha color magnum MKll came out they dropped/discontinued the silver magnum MKll and dropped the magnum XK too making the magnum ll the entry level magnum. Funny that entry-level magnum ll had a better non-oil injected engine then the noisy, air leaky, oil pumper engine on the magnum MKll.

XK was the base magnum from '78-79, with the silver MKII being top trim.

In 1980 the mocha MKII was top trim and the magnum II was the base.

It should be noted that they never offered them all at once.

I am not certain but my theory is the only magnum made in 1981 (last year for magnum production) was the Limited, kind of the final run with all the best stuff. The cobra came onto the scene in 1984.

Cool thanks for the lesson guys.

If you haven't come across any of my other recent posts, I'm really missing my 79 MKII that I sold 7 years ago. Might have found a suitable replacement though. More on that later....

Re: Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

The "mid range" MKII was also available in Green

Yes

I saw one in person that the person swore it was blue from the factory but on the other side of a side cover you could see the silver paint which of course the owner said was primer ha ha

Funny I like the magnum XK and the magnum ll the best, they have the best engines in my opinion .

Sadly I got to sell my low mile survivor magnum ll soon so greedy medical people have my money (edited)

Re: Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

Ken that looks like a nice mag, always sucks to get rid of one.

As for the blue xk story's that were going around,

I have never seen one but the most likely story I got from the forums discussions were that certain puch dealers may have gone the extra mile- painting new magnums (or really any moped they sold) for customers that wanted something a little different.

Farming out the paint and laying new decals over it most likely.

Making for a stock new bike in a odd color scheme.

I would be very surprised if puch actually shipped new body parts over in anything other then the colors we currently know for magnums. (edited)

My Magnum says Hi, then.

Re: Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

Hate to break it to you but that ain't the factory paint job.

Re: Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

Just an assumption (you know what they say about those)... but if that green were indeed a factory paint job, wouldn't the upper forks be green too?

Looks good, but I question its legitimacy. (edited)

I have a manual that states black was a color, it's my belief they called the brown ones black. I'll take a pic next time I'm in the shop.

What exact manual is this information from ?

I have seen most of the manuals and never seen that.

Re: Shit Brown Puch Magnum MKII

No black offered ever on mags & no way they called mocha black.

Maybe the manual was referring to a Puch nostalgia?
