Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

So i picked up this Grande for the variator so i could variate my Ciao. . . After i Variated my Ciao i felt like doing something with the Grande. I have decided to make a stretched grande with a pa50II engine.

This is the Grande

I started taking apart the forks because i think iam going to reuse them.

I used my wire wheel in my angle grinder to remove all the crud and then i painted them black!

This is the donor bike. i got it running tonight, the gas must be original because it smells like paint thinner when it runs. But it runs great! I just had to rewire it, but it was easy because its the CDI. the previous owner spray painted the entire thing silver, but it never dried due to all the oil everywhere. so working on it makes your hands silver.

stay tuned suck wads!

Sweet!

Don't fuck it uuuuup;)

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

I never noticed how raked out a grande is.

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

I have a hobbit subframe mount hacked off a crusty frame if you want to save that stuff. I'll send it to yuh if it ain't too late

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

yeah? got a photo? I could be interested!

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

I really need to do that to my grande forks.

Way to save a frame scooter!

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

Picture this, the piece cut off the frame and in your hand. ;)

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

Just Kidding! GaaaawwwwD

Here's 3 motor mounts. The mount on the right you could make how ever u want. The bushings fit in the pipe, then weld some legs up to them frame tubes. + it has bushings :/

Which ever one u think will do it, I put on boat and paddle u river.

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

I think Damon from Nasty Action did the reverse -- put a Vespa Grande set up on a Hobbit frame. I think the Honda subframe is narrower than the Grande -- gonna have to grind that front mount down alot.

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

one of the first cool custom bikes i remember seeing a pic of when i was new to mopeds. Sick combination!

I have a hobbit swing arm set up for mono shock if you wanna get crazy, check it out. it's strong and curves over the wheel. (edited)

This is the inspiration for the grande subframes I have planned for mid-august.

Super excited to see maize's take on a grabbit (edited)

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

How was the pet cock delt with on that conversion? the main reason i am streaching it is becuase the petcock is right in the way of the engine!

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

I got the frame all stripped down. now i just need to weld a mount for the pa50!

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

My buddy did this with decent results untill he exploded his clutch (edited)

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

Move the bung hole if you have to dip

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

I say you put the mounts on the back of the banana and put a bucket seat inside the grande frame.

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

Are u dun yet?

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

Boo ya! my buddy Adam from Tres Rayos let me use his welder. He forgot the helmet so i had to do it blind. But it turned out ok!

Here it is put together. I need to take it apart tomorrow and paint it, put it back together and get some longer cables. Than i should be good to go!

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

This looks so comfy

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

I still think you should do rigid struts out back ;)

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

That'll work!

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

Easy rider!

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

it looks a lot better than before.

Re: Stretched Vespa Grande build progress

More progress! I had time to put the frame on! flushed the tank, connected the fuel line. Just need to connect the cables and wiring, upholster the seat and its good to go.
