exhaust advice??????

hi all, i am picking up a 1981 puch magnum mkll next week, i went back and looked at some old posts about tuned exhausts. most are saying the biturbo is not an option because of the slanted head. did anyone else go with a leovinci, or polini? (sorry bad spelling on my part). anybody happy with theirs? any advice would be great. thats the first thing i would like to upgrade. thanks.........

Re: exhaust advice??????

You can bend the pipe with a torch, but if you upgrade to a 70cc kit you'll have to bend it back. I have a 70cc kit on my magnum, and it hauls! I also have a 15mm carb, high flow air filter, and a proma circuit exhaust. You should be able to put a bigger carb on your 'ped without any major modifications. You might not be able to use a larger intake, but you can use a file (with the intake off the engine) to widen it out to the carb's size. The 70cc kit was real easy to install too. I was a bit nervous about installing it, but it was fairly easy. I really like my magnum II, the MKII is really nice. The guy at the mopedwarehouse.com has a ton of new/used parts for them too.

Re: exhaust advice??????

hey wonko, thanks. ow do you like that exhaust? i heard its pretty loud. that would be nice. any one else with a different experience???

Re: exhaust advice??????

It's loud, yes, but I never get ignored while I'm zipping down the road! The powerband on that pipe is sweet. It starts to kick in around 25mph on my 'ped, but gearing/engines vary I suppose. The pipe also looks really cool. It has a mini-glasspack muffler on the end, just like a full sized motorcycle, and the muffler can be taken apart and cleaned.

It's not a pipe to get if you want to be low-key. A lot of people turn around and look.

Re: exhaust advice??????

lol great, thats what i wanted to hear. i will be getting that for sure. did you have to modify it at all, or was it a perfect made to fit thing? thanks.............

Sprint Man /

The guy at moped warehouse said go for the leovinci. It's different, so mine as well try somthin new and different. I doubt that any moped company will make a new exhaust that is less performance than the older one. Good luck

Re: hey wonko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to do a very slight mod, but I'm told that my experience is the exeption. Mostly you don't have to do any modifications, other than sometimes bending the pipe to fit the slanted exhaust port.
