This morning I paid a whopping $60 for this 1978 Puch Newport L with 917 original miles, at my local flea market. All it needs is a new drive chain, throttle cable, carb cleaning, a vinegar soak for the gas tank and clean up the chrome.
I also got this vintage can of Puch oil. I've got the little tubes of Puch oil, but I've never seen/had a can of it.
Not a bad day at the flea market.

Flea markets are the best place to sell your stolen moped! No paperwork is the typical condition of anything there !

I feel like south jersey is a different world.. In north jersey somebody would be selling the headlight for more than you paid for this whole bike because it's "vintage". Nice score, hope I get that lucky sometime

hah.. my room mate decided to rediscover his childhood joys of go karting about a year ago and is just now finally starting to listen to me about avoiding anything advertised as "vintage". He dropped $500 on a frame a few months ago and got all excited because he "lowballed" the guy and he took the offer. Was also an 18 hour round trip to pick it up...

Yesterday, I replaced the drive chain, cleaned the carb and installed a new throttle cable. I'm soaking the gas tank now with vinegar. I shot some carb cleaner in the intake and she fired up on the first kick. I should have her back on the road by Wednesday.

Well, she's just about done. All that's left to do is dial in the carb. Otherwise, she starts, idles and runs great. I love hearing a 36 year old ped roar back to life. It never gets old.

I have one of those oil cans and I gave another to a friend. That's the only time I've ever seen one til now. Never even seen one on Ebay. The only ped I've ever scored for cheap was a seized Jawa for $40. Good find tho.

Looks really great! unbelievable deal, I have never seen a moped at a flea market, garage sale, or thrift shop. But this makes me want to keep trying.
