up to a while ago i had a perfect moped. then it started to foul the plug so i bought the same one. then i ran it for 2 weeks and one day i got to start it up and no start. i check gas. ok and then compersion...ok....then spark and it gets spark. weak but its a spark. so i start to pedal backwards with my hands like hell and all i get it a couple of back fires and smoke. could it be the electronic ignition or the step up coil or the magneto coil? help plz.

Sounds to me like a clogged filter. I bet right now the reason you ped will not run is your plug is once again fouled. If you were to replace it would run great for another two weeks, but replacing it would not solve the problem. You see when you have a cloged air filter it acts like a choke and sucks in alot of gas which would explane why it is running so good, but it is also fouls the plug due to the exess of carbon caused by all the oil being consumed. As a fix you should clean or replace the element in you air box depending if the element is rusted or not.
that is not the prob i just cleaned it when i put the new plug in. so im thinking its the electical. but i dont want to go adn buy parts till i know whats wrong. anyother sugestions

Did you oil the filter when you cleaned it?... if you did you might have used too much oil and its doing what Jon said.
You just want a thin film of oil on it.
Also if you have points and they get dirty the spark get's weaker and won't fire the plug.
I think the quickest way to find out is to buy a new plug and see if it works good again.
I bet 70% of the ignition coils ever bought for any vehicle were not necessary because it's usually something else.
Belive me, replace your plug. I guarentee it will work like it did before.
i replaced the plug and gapped it bigger. it works a lot better than it ever has. thanks everyone

If you don't find the reason your plug fouled it will happen again. Until then carry an extra plug and plug wrench because befor long you will be riding aolng and, sppppppppp sp sp pop spp . (sorry, thats my impretion of a ped dieing.)

Lemme amend that a lil...
ALWAYS carry an extra plug and plug wrench - when ya only got one plug, it's a damn good idea to have a spare handy, no matter how nice yer 'ped runs, specially when ya make 60+ mile round trips on that puppy.
