Re: Introducing...the Mintho

Yeah, what head is that?

Re: Introducing...the Mintho

i like that it truly is "bolt-on"

been eyeing it for a few days on the other internets and wondering what it's details included.

clever, rad, stunning in an uma thurman "is-she-ugly-is-she-hot" kinda way.

Head is a hobbit wc kits head.

I brazed in an aluminum plate to the bottom to seal it and added an extra outlet.

Works pretty good. Cools about the same as a wc kit. Max head temps up to low 300 even on crazy mountains (but I'm slightly lean and lugging the motor a bit cuz of heavier weights)

Does not cool as well as my custom billet hobbit wc head, that thing can't even get the water to pressurize it runs so cool. Think it's cuz of the huge amount of mass it has.

I was considering modding these wc kit's heads for folks.

Would anyone be interested in them at a reasonable cost?

Btw, that kickstand is a bed frame wheel receiver.

I chopped a groove into the steel rod to accept the brass snap retainer bushing

so it stays in when I move the bike, then pops out when it's time to blash

Re: Introducing...the Mintho

how does it jerk off? 1/8mi times?

Re: Introducing...the Mintho

Totally normal JBOT /

I dunno, but I had an overflow port open when I first started tuning it,

and as soon as it got to pressure it spurted all over me.

I felt lots of shame, wet crotch all the way home

New mount with 1/4 steel tabs.

Much better! It broke the steel tube on the old mount cuz the engine is a beasty. Now no more wobble.

Dammit, I've been wanting to find a hobbit wc head and do this for a while now. Anyhow, I'd be interested in a modded one by you or even the stock wc head itself if you have a supply...treats seems to be out of them.

Re: Introducing...the Mintho

sir thaddeusforemen /

posts deets on how you built this. i showed 3 of my friends this, saying how bad ass this is. lol. no frame welding required !!!!!!

Re: Introducing...the Mintho

Totally normal JBOT /

It's easy. 2 pieces of channel iron.

Cut out a curve in each, weld in a halved pipe that fits the OD of the frame.

Drill 4 holes, clamp is done.

Then just weld tabs on the bottom corresponding to whatever engine you want to mount.

Tin toy for a iron cradle.

Just give up now.

Re: Introducing...the Mintho

Added a DR kit to this bike cuz the wizzzzard kit previously ran with was fun but was ported to run 8k stall and it revved way out but where I live I need grunt for low stall and pulling crazy inclines at a stop sign. The DR fits the bill perfectly. Had to chop and modify the header a bit with a biturbo header. So far it’s way more fun around here.

And then I went to pick up Banh mi with the hey sport

It’s got low end now which is so nice. If the decked aux port wizzzzard Kit was on a dual variated bike it would totally rip but I’ve learned this over these past 7 years:

Port non race swinging engine French style bikes as tho they are single speed if you live in mountainous country. Don’t go too high with the timing or you’ll just sit on the clutch waiting a bit too long to get out of slip and into engagement. Keep a moderate blowdown to have a very wide band.
