Sorry about being so vage.

When I originally ajusted the points I took off the magneto flywheel. I move the stator plate. it backfired. so I took off the fly wheel and moved the stator plate again. back to the original setting. now it won't start.

after your suggestion, RON, I took off the fly wheel to look for anything strage. I noticed nothing. I made sure all my srews were tight. when I went to put back the fly wheel the nut that held it on seemed stripped. I would turn it and the flywhell would not tight down. I took off the nut again and just looked at it. I pushed the flywheel on firmly and the put the nut on making sure that it when on all the way and that the flywheel was nice and tight. Now it starts but still won't idle.

I think that I did not have the flywheel on correctly the first time.

Sorry for wasting your time guys.
