New moped recommendation

Peter DeLuca /

I am looking to sell my 81 Honda NA50 and my 83 NU50M and buy something new. I'm looking for something that's more dependable, easy to work on, and somewhat easy to get parts for. I don't know much about the various mopeds that are available. I've been looking into a 78 Puch Maxi in my area with around 900 miles on it. Can anyone suggest a good moped or tell me what they think about the Puch? I don't want to spend much more than what I can get for my Hondas (I think that's about $600-800).

Re: New moped recommendation

More dependable than a Honda? Good luck!

Here's the "A list" thought

Puch: any with the E50 engine

Minarelli V1 :this is an engine, not a bike, but a great deal of Italian bikes used it. This is a truly great little engine

Tomos: Any Tomos.

Honda PA50 II: A bit harder to work on, but it's case inducted with a dual variator. (edited)

Re: New moped recommendation

VESPA!

Re: New moped recommendation

Puch or Tomos... both have a ton of parts available.

Re: New moped recommendation

Anything with a Minarelli V1 motor like Snark, General, Cimatti, Motomarina, etc.

Re: New moped recommendation

I'll regret saying this but....1980 Sachs 1-D G-3.... (edited)

Re: New moped recommendation

Don, good choice!

Re: New moped recommendation

I'll agree with Don Sumpter. Sachs G3 is a killer moped.
