Finally, I got my MOPED!!!

Ahra Majniu /

Finally! I got my moped from the service today! I've been waiting for it since November! I got it in the morning at about 10 o' clock. I've been polishing and cleaning it all day, and of course I made some circles around the block, watching out for policemen, coz I dont have a license to ride it... I was happy to notice, that the exhaust has been bored (by the previous owner) I didnt know about that (that would explain the good acceleration). Oh I forgot to mention that it's a Jawa Babetta, 1976. How much speed do I gain with a bored exhaust? The bike is pretty loud, I guess thats the bored exhausts side effect. (right?) I'll post a pic later on.

I'm really happy, and proud of it.

Yeah, the bike will get better acceleration from an opened up exhaust, but it may be leaning the bike out ( too much air, not enough gas), which can casue MAJOR problems.

So check out Fred's Guide on the resource section and be sure to do some plug chops!

Congrats!

Get legal so you don't have to keep looking over your shoulder for cops, just the knucklehead tailgaters.

It's going pretty good, but I've got a problem, I just came back from riding it 5 mins. ago, and as I got it out the garage, I noticed a fuel puddle. Msot of the fuel dripped out somehow. I dont think that the fuel tank is leaking, coz it was standing there for 4 days without loosing any fuel, I guess it could be a problem with the fuel tap. Got any idea?

If it isn't leaking from a hole in the tank, my first place to check would be the petcock... if not there, its probably leaking from the floatbowl of the carb, especially if it has been sitting a real long time.. you'll probably need a new float needle and float if it has a foam one like in the bing carb on my Maxi...

After sitting in crud and fuel for a while, they tend to "sink" in the gas and need repalced... I've 3 bing carbs with the same foam float in them....
