No spark on Puch

Team Angel III /

Hi All!

I bought a Puch moped to build for my son. I got a lot of good advice here this weekend! Thank you all! I had a problem of getting no spark. I tried a new spark plug, but that did not help. Where would be a good place to start diagnosing this problem? Cheers!

The moped repair forum would be an excellent place to start.

do this

its very simple, if still no spark its a bigger issue, but i'm guessing its a grounding issue somewhere or something small like that

How do I check the kill switch? If I was to hardwire the moped, will that take away from the value of it?

Re: No spark on Puch

Please use the wiki first. Then you can post on the repair forum.

Re: No spark on Puch

buy a points file for the auto store its about 1.99 and open up the left cover if your sitting on the bike. This is the first cheap step.

Re: No spark on Puch

i had same trouble, dodgy ground wire on rear light, cleaned it and got big blue spark immediatly, strange but true

Make sure the horn is grounded and make sure everything else is, could be the points, the ignition coil, a faulty ground, etc. a Puch wont start unless the horn is grounded I believe.
