Performance exhaust

What is the performance difference between the biturbo and leo vince exhausts for the Puch maxi?

Re: Performance exhaust

I had a biturbo on my Maxi Luxe and it was alright. I got about 4 more mph out of it. But then I got a Proma circuit exhaust, which is a lot like the leo vince. These pipes have a larger expansion chamber, that is up near the head, rather than to the side. I put in a 68 jet with it and now that puppy get in the upper 30's! I am not sure why they are better, but I have heard that it has something to do with the position or the expansion chamber. With the biturbo I didn't have to rejet, but as I said before, with the proma, I did. It made me run lean as hell, so that is why I had to get a bigger jet. That is a good thing....If you can get a good mix with a bigger jet, your ped is going to have more power...I say, go with the leo vinci, or a proma circuit, and rejet. You know what else with give you a lot more power....replace that little 12mm carb with a 15mm bing. You would need to get the 14mm manifold too. My puch is super fast with the proma and 15mm carb. You might have to modify your airbox a little, but it's worth it.

Thanks

Re: Performance exhaust

You had to rejet, even after adjusting the needle all the way? I am mostly looking for acceleration. Does the biturbo deliver? Mopedwarehouse is selling them for 70$ so I thought I'd give it a go

Re: Performance exhaust

Actually, I've noticed that puchs accelerate better with stock exhaust than with a biturbo. The biturbo is designed for high end torque and takes away from acceleration a bit. If you want better acceleration, I'd put a smaller sprocket on the front (engine). It'll take away some of your top speed, though, maybe 2 or 3 mph.
