How do I identify this moped

Brian Davis /

I recently acquired a moped from my step grandfather who got it from a friend of his. His bud knows nothing about it, but didn't want it hanging around his basement anymore. I got it running pretty much as good as it can get. I have determined a few things. It is a 1978 model, it has a TAS sticker on the engine, and a Lambretta logo on the seat. Other than that I can not seem to find any markings. It is canary yellow and does not look to be repainted. Know a good place to look to exact ally determine the make and model of this moped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Brian

Info I have puts Lambretta out of production in 1971. Are you sure about this 1978 date . It is a moped and not a scooter. bruce

Hey I found a plate with info on it! Manufactured by Sprinter Mopeds in Taipei Taiwan in 1978. So the guy was right about the date. The GVWR is 330 and the vehicle id number is 101779. Do you guys happen to have any info about this brand or model? The plate was underneath the fork under some wires...missed it on the 1st once over. Got it to fire today and idle. The drive belt seems to slip a bit, but is looks old and loose. Could not find a tension mechanism.

Thanks,

Brian

Re: How do I identify this moped

does it say angel on it?

Re: How do I identify this moped

Does it have pedals or is it a kind of scooter or like a Honda Express?

Nope, there is no model name that I could find, only the springer company name. Still has tas sticker and lambretta seat...which were probally add on's. It is pedal driven two stroke, with a 1:25 oil/gas mix. Yeah wierd mix, but thats what it says on the gas cap.

"Taz" the cartoon character?

What a terrible sticker to put on a moped.

Sorry I can't help more.
