throttle cable adjustment

I have a puch maxi sport from 78. In the manual it says to adjust the throttle cable slack to 1mm, since I had to replace the cable recently. How do I measure slack in the cable? Do i have to take the carburetor off?

Thanks

RE: throttle cable adjustment

You don't measure it, you feel it. If you open up the throttle there should be som slack before you put tension on the cable, that's all.

You don't have to take apart the carburettor, there should be a cable-adjuster on top of the carburettor where the cable comes out and on some bike's there a cable-adjuster at the gashandle too.
