tomos targa electrical problem

My 2000 Tomos w/ 70cc upgrade may have an electrical problem.

- It was working fine until one day when I shut off the ignition and it kept running (just for about 6 seconds).

- That same day, whenever I came to a stop it died.

- It runs very well at high speeds and only stalls when the rear wheel slows (near stop).

Question: What's the most common electrical part that fails on these peds? Does this sound like the problem... ie/ it can't generate enough power for the spark plug at low rpms?

- I've check the carb + my compression looks good.

Thanks,

Jonl

Jon,

I cant help feeling these two problems are related. When your ped continued running after you turned it off, did it make strange noises?

Have you changed the plug?

Ron

Re: tomos targa electrical problem

- I tried a new plug... and nothing.

- The 'run with ignition switch off' only happened once... no strange sounds

- It still runs great at high speeds... just dies at stoplights

I found the old posting of checking the electrical components.. so I'll try that.

Thanks,

Jon.

Ron Brown /

Jon,

Try your idle adjustment on the carburetor.
