loosen the screw to the points and move it around..there's a peice that you want to sit against the inside of the flywheel..

Yeah. I know how points and a stator work. But sometimes when I rotate it, it doesn't effect the timing.
AFFECT YOU MORON. JEEZ MA IS SO DUM AT SPELLING
maybe if points are loose they shift to compensate change. i don't know man sounds spooooky

In a fury of great anger I ripped my entire stator out and threw it across the backyard today.
I have CDI kit on order lol
my points are great.
i am just trying to see if anyone has had this happend.
most of the time, timing goes great, but once in a while, the timing just doesn't change. . .
My batavus with bosch points setup did this to me for a while. I realized later that the flywheel was all messed up. Could have been my fault, not sure actually, but the flywheel had a crack. Like in the keyway, along the length of the keyway. Hope that makes sense. But when I would adjust the timing it was like nothing would happen. I think it was because as the flywheel would spin that crack would open up, and no matter what I did it would stay super advanced.
hmm, my flywheel seems fine. . . i took off my cdi and went back to points, but i couldn't change the timing on them. it was really odd.
you confirmed this with a timing light?
im a fan of points. also a fan of CDI$
Yeah with a timing light. I twisted the stator all the way from left to right and right to left. And the timing did not change 1 degree
Cam on points worn, metal spring on points bad, pivot on points bad, huge gap, wrong flywheel, worn flywheel , stator moving
Cam is fine. right and unword flywheel, stator is not moving, gap is good. Ill double check the pivot and metal spring on the points.
I saw it, its true. He went from full retard to full advance and the timing didn't change from 19mm BTDC. The timing did seem to be really jumpy too. Really weird but I can't say it hasn't also happen to me before as well. Its really strange because it you physically move the stator plate, you are moving when the points open on the cam no buts about it, there should be no possible way the timing shouldn't change.
Are you sure you had the arrow pointing the right way on the sensor on the timing light?
Oh and WF?
Thats crazy. Maybe its the wrong points? This makes me brain hurt, if it was my bike I would probably flip out.
youre doing it wrong.
yea dog you're doing it wrong, is your point gap changing? try setting timing by messing with the point gap setting to get it to open or close when you want.
