I really feel its necessary (for safety) to upgrade my brakes on my Puch/General bike from the stockers to full discs, front and rear. What parts will I need? And how much will I be looking at spending to do the conversion?
Questions about disc brake conversion on General 5 Star?
Re: Questions about disc brake conversion on General 5 Star?
Ha ha good luck especially on the rear (never seen rear disc on 5 star) go to 1977mopeds.com look at their custom general in the moped build section and then shoot em an email asking how they got the disc setup up front... They will be a lot nicer than the cats on here.... Ps they run bicycle disc brake setups, so if u want motorcycle style disc brakes u need to change your forks to some dirtbike or enduro forks

You need a wheel, a disc, a caliper, forks...but if you didn't know that, may i suggest you pay someone 500 bucks to do it for you.

I have Suzuki K10 forks currently. If I had the cash, I'd just pick up the EBR hydros w/ the disc setup but looking for a cheaper option possibly.
Thanks...I'll have to look into '77s setup.

Sounds impossible
Re: Questions about disc brake conversion on General 5 Star?
If you have the K10 forks, why not just find some K10 wheels and run those....the brake shoes are much bigger than a mopeds and they were designed to stop a heavier motorcycle.

SCRATCH THIS... after researching, only one guy (that I've found) has k10s w/ discs. No more info though on how it was done
